EDMONTON, CIMCO Refrigeration (CIMCO) has opened a 22,500 ft2 manufacturing facility in Edmonton, Alberta, to offer greater support for local customers and municipalities.
The new branch officially opened in Strathcona County, just outside of Edmonton, in February 2022 to also serve the surrounding Saskatchewan and British Columbia (BC) provinces. The 1.2-acre yard is centrally located between BC and Manitoba, offering service, projects, and manufacturing capabilities for all RACHP sectors. This branch also benefits from an in-house engineering and automation division, plus a small NPC (National Parts Center) division.
The need for a new Edmonton branch was necessitated by a growing demand for local manufacturing capabilities. Previously, the manufacturing for the region was all done out of CIMCO’s Toronto facility and then shipped to Edmonton.
“By setting up this capability locally, costs and lead times are significantly reduced, a benefit that is passed on to the customer,” said Connor McIntosh, Branch Manager at CIMCO Edmonton.
Now, CIMCO can manufacture all facets of package assembly locally—from snowmelt coils to compressor packages, pump packages, and everything in between (except pressure vessels). Especially popular are premanufactured standalone plant rooms that are built in the CIMCO workshop, drastically reducing the time needed on-site and the associated risks and costs.

Nearly 60 staff members work at this branch, some with more than 40-50 years of experience working at CIMCO. The customer benefits from this level of experience, as well as the continuity of the same person working on a project from manufacturing to on-site installation—a unique feature of the Edmonton branch where the manufacturing team is rotated with construction.
Notably, the Edmonton facility has 100% solar offset, in fact producing more solar than it can use. This aligns well with CIMCO’s net zero and sustainability goals.
In the future, the Edmonton branch is expected to further expand along with demand in the Western Canada region.
